A New Year’s Resolution: Always Be Learning

2017 at sunrise or sunset backdropThe number one strength that I bring with me into work is the strong desire to learn.  In Strengths Finder 2.0, Tom Rath highlights this trait as follows:

  • You love to learn.
  • …you will always be drawn to the process of learning.
  • You are energized by the steady and deliberate journey from ignorance to competence. The thrill of the first few facts, the early efforts to recite or proactive what you’ve learned, the growing confidence of a skill mastered…

I believe that the last bullet point offers us (talent development professionals) a roadmap to our organizational learning strategies.  Provide facts, opportunities to practice and a path to mastery. When you take all three parts into account, learning is much more than a single event.  It is a continuous process.  It happens in the classroom, in our interactions with each other and while getting our work done.  It’s that moment of apply where we truly master the skills we need to do our jobs.

Team TutorPro is made up of individuals who are always learning.  Our commitment to you and our community of learning and talent development is to continue sharing our findings with you so you can “always be learning” alongside us.
